"LONDON 2012".....WOOLWICH WELCOMES THE OLYMPIC TORCH
Saturday, July 21, 2012. I get up early and was at the square by 6.30am ready, Camera at hand, to start clicking. However, it was not until about 9.40am that the much awaited Torch arrived the General Gordon Square to a tumultous welcome, as Royal Greenwich made history for being the first Borough to welcome the Torch, which began its journey through the Capital on that day.
Below, I upload more photos to give you a peep into what the Square looked like on that eventfull day. Enjoy and keep it real!
*The Olympic Touch on arrival at the General Gordon Square.
* Lloyds Bank Troupe.
Lloyds Bank, Coca-Cola and Samsung Dance Troupes added carnival fun to it when they arrived the square 10 minutes ahead of the Touchbearer.
* The Cameras flashed in quick succession as the Touch was carried through the Square.
* People, people everywhere. The Square was filled to the brim as never before.
* Members of the Royal Guards, from the King's Troupe which moved to Woolwich Arsenal earlier in the year also graced the arrival of the Touch.
* Samsung showed off their technological might, as the their Troupe danced on the roof top of their custom van, fitted with a 2 metre wide high resolution TV
* Samsung cumtom van shows David Bekhams add.
* We witnessed it and it was a happy moment.
