LONDON OLYMPICS CLOSES: HANDS OVER TO RIO DE JENEIRO IN STYLE

"Thank you London for a job welll done. Goodbye all, see you in Rio de Jeneiro in 4 years time", was the closing remarks of the President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Mr Jacques Rogge.

According to the IOC President, "The Olympics was described as the biggest logistic enterprise in peace time". Attendance was said to be atleast 15 to 20% higher than in previous games. The Olympics is a zero-fault tolerance event and London has made sure there were no faults and if any did arise, had solved them within the shortest time possible.

About 140,000 worked to make the Olympics the success that it was. Of this were 10,000 Athletes competed for 26 different sports, 60,000 volunteers, 25,000 media personnel working to report the events.
There were many heroes and British Attlets brought back a haul of medals.
Notable names of the games include: Jesica Enis (Gold), Christine Ohuruogu (Silver), Anthony Joshua (Gold) - described as boxing's hotest property, Mo Farah (2x Gold), Usain Bolt (3x Gold and Yohan Blake (Gold and Silver), both of Jamaica. * Tower Bridge with Olympic Rings..soon to be replaced by Paralympic rings.
* Gunnery: previously made in Royal Arsenal, Woolwich, Royal Borough of Greenwich
