Former Prime Minister, Barroness Margaret Thatcher, is dead. She died peacefully, after a stroke, at the age of 87.

News of her death was announced by her children Mark and Carol Thatcher who said that their "mother had died peacefully following a stroke this morning". Baroness Thatcher was the Leader of the Conservative Party and went on to become Prime Ministers.

According to report monitored from SkyNews, the former prime minister's spokesman Lord Bell, who announced her death, said: "We’ll never see the like of her again. She was one of the great prime ministers of all time and transformed people's lives."

As the world reacts to the shocking news incumbent Prime Minister, David Cameron paid his tribute with the following statement: "It was with great sadness that I learned of Lady Thatcher's death. We've lost a great leader, a great Prime Minister and a great Briton." He is cutting short his visit for a meeting with European Union Ministers in Spain.

Baroness Thatcher was Prime minister between 1979 and 1990, and left remarkable footprints and known as the `Iron Lady'. She stoutly defended and went to war with Argentina over the Falklands Icelands, which has recently held a referendum confirming their desire to remain a British Overseas Territory. She handed over to the then Chancellor of the Exchequer, John Major.

According to a Sky News report "Baroness Thatcher's funeral will be held next Wednesday at St Paul's Cathedral in central London - and will be attended by the Queen. The monarch will be joined by the Duke of Edinburgh, as well as other heads of state and foreign dignitaries from across the globe. Downing Street said the date had been agreed at a meeting with Lady Thatcher's family and officials from Buckingham Palace. The announcement came amid calls by supporters for a state funeral, as preparations for the ceremonial farewell for Britain's first and only woman prime minister got under way."

Woolwich Arsenal residents, like the rest of the country, will miss an icon and a world leader. Rest in Peace Barroness!
