The internet search engine giant is 15 years. Hurray!!
Google was incorporated on September 4, 1998 as a private company. It was not until 2004 that an initial public offering (IPO) was made August 19.
It's Mission Statement was simple and clear "to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful".
From its humble search engine beginnings, Google has grown into a gargantuan giant, with serval tentacles versely spread across a wide expanse through various acquisions and new foundings over the years.
It now operates in areas including, internet search engine, social media, telecommunications and mobile technology, android technology, publishing and many more.
As if to deliver a resounding birthday gift to `Daddy', Google+, its social media networking arm, reached a milesstone this September, crossing the 1bn mark of registered users, next to facebook.
This year also, the internet giant has founded a new company called Calico.
Founded on September 19, 2013, the new firm will focus on health and wellbeing products. It's task will be to research into "the challenge of ageing and associated diseases".
In recognition of the laudable efforts of Google's founders and the enormous positive contributions they have made to the lives of millions around the world, we at Woolwich Online would like to say a HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Google!
