* The Lenox.
`Build the Lenox', a project to build a replica of the Lenox, the Restoration Warship, at the King Henry VIII’s Royal Dockyard, Deptford - where she was originally built – has declared Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd September, 2013 as the days to mark the Dockyard's 500th Anniversary.
Lenox itself was built there more than 330 years ago, the project says.
The organisers of the project are enthusiastic and say that hundreds of people are in favour of it and appreciate its scale. They say the "...project aspires to create jobs, build transferable skills, bring pride to Deptford, and create tourism and identity."
The organisers say they are opening to the public, the historic Master Shipwrights House on Watergate Street, Deptford, in which the master shipwright John Shish, who designed and built the Lenox, would have lived, "free of charge". The house will be open from 10am till 4pm each day.
They say actors Ben Willbond and Laurence Rickard are coming to support the project.
Keepsakes like printed T-shirts (with the specially-designed Deptford 500 logo) as well as tote bags featuring the Lenox in a Storm, will be available for purchase at £15 and £8 respectively.
