Police say this will make it easier to trace, if stolen.

Registering your mobile phone takes a only couple of minutes and all you need is the "IMEI" number, otherwise called the "International Mobile Equipment Identity", plus a few photographs of your phone, but it is just optional.

The IMEI number is a 15-17 digit serial number for mobile phones that you can see by simply typing *#06# into the keypad. Try this on your phone to see your IMEI number as shown in the above photo.

But if you still have our packaging intact, you should be able to find your phones IMEI number written on it.
