UNITED NATIONS OBSERVES WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY by Benson Agoha

* Do you feel like your brain has been dis-membered and not able to perform as usual?

Did you know that scientists state, as a proven fact, that "one in five individuals, suffer from mental ill-health"?

Well, according to a wall poster at the Oxleas House, which the Home Treatment Team will very readily show you, the statistics hold true.

For this reason, it is not so shameful to openly talk about mental ill-health. Especially if you are feeling `de-cycled' and totally out of it all.

Today, Thursday, October 10, 2013, as they do every year, the United Nations through the World Health Organisation (WHO) is observing "World Mental Health Day".

The Worldy Body said the theme of the event today 2013 is “Mental health and older adults”.

"The day is celebrated at the initiative of the World Federation of Mental Health and WHO supports this initiative through raising awareness on mental health issues", the UN says.

Along with this, the UN says it is developing a comprehensive mental health action plan for 2013–2020.
