Secure Sleep Limited and Thirty Eight Wellington Street Limited (In Administration) have submitted an application for the demolition and redevelopment of the property occupied by The Woolwich Grand Theatre.

Planning Application for the redevelopment of No. 38 Wellington Street, Woolwich, made to the Royal Borough of Greenwich reveal the property is to be demolished and replaced with a building that will comprise a lower ground level with 6 storeys to provide [sic] `163sqm of A3 / A4 / D2 space on the ground floor and 46 residential units comprising 15 x 1 bed units and 31 x 2 bed units with associated disabled car parking, cycle storage and refuse storage.'

Application No. 13/2798/F, published on the Council website include an Air Quality Assessment report, Condition Survey, Transport, Sustainability, Energy and Noise Assessments, Sunlight and Daylight Study for 38 Wellington Street, among others.

Architects BPTW PARTNERSHIP who submitted the planning application on behalf of Secure Sleep, appear to consider the proposed development more Economically Viable than it currently is.

It will be recalled that on September 21, 2013, Woolwich Online revealed that the Woolwich Grand maybe under threat of redevelopment following information about a potential consultation on the issue.

It is not yet clear how long The Woolwich Grand Threatre will remain there if the Secure Sleeps application is approved by the Council, but one thing is sure, the Woolwich Grand's tenure, on 38 Wellington Street is as good as ended, if the plan receives the `go-ahead'.

In a fast twist, Woolwich online hears a petition is underway to intervene on the issue and save the Woolwich Grand.
