RISE IN TEMPORARY JOB OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE CHRISTMAS SEASON by Benson Agoha

Jobs Opportunities are being decleared in the run up to the Festive Season, leading to a drastic fall in unemployment.

Rise in availability of seasonal temporary jobs are further evidence of the recovery which was recently confirmed by the Bank of England Governor, Mark Carney, as strong.

As usual Royal Mail, Supermarket chains, Manufacturing, Courier Firms and High Street retailers are expected to lead the way.

Argos has already announced a Christmas jobs boost of about 24.000 temporary openings to work in its 570 Stores in UK and the Republic of Ireland. The High Street retailer said 16,000 of the jobs will be in stores throughout England.

Late last month, Royal Mail, announced the creation of 21.000 temporary openings for which it has already received about 80.000 applications. It said eiteen thousand (18,000) of the positions will work in England alone.

Royal Mail employs 124,000 permanent postmen and women who sort and deliver the mail all year round.

Sainbury's Supermarket is the latest to announce creation of 16.000 temporary sesonal jobs. It comes on the heal of its recently revealed strong half-year performance.

Announcing the new jobs, Sainsbury's which employs about 157.000 staff in over 1,100 stores across the UK, said it has recently been given a `Gold' rating by investors for the second consecutive year.
The Supermarket chain said it expects to make around 2,000 of these temporary workers permanent to give people a "stepping stone into the world of work and vital experience."

And providing even more good news, Sainsbury's said it aims to create 50.000 new jobs by 2020.
