SIGNALLING FAILURE BETWEEN WOOLWICH ARSENAL AND CITY SORTED by Benson Agoha

* South Eastern Train at Plunstead.

The Signalling failure which crippled the South Eastern Trains services from Woolwich to the City have been sorted.

Train commuters arriving Plumstead station during the rush hour yesterday evening were informed that services to Charing Cross and Cannon Street were disrupted from Woolwich Arsenal Station, due to Signalling Failure from Woolwich.

When our reporter visited the Plumstead Station, affected passengers were exploring alternative means to get to their destinations and a train waiting to depart from Plaform 1, which was supposed to be heading towards London Bridge, was due to return back towards Darford.

However, the signalling failure affected one platform only because trains from the City were running effectively through Plumstead towards Abbeywood.

Wouth Eastern Railways said fire in an equipment caused the signalling problems. They tweeted "We’re very sorry for the problems last night. Fire in a Network Rail equipment room caused all signals at London Bridge to fail."

South Eastern Railways said "Services on our network have now returned to normal."

Woolwich Online checked again this morning, and noticed that the problems have been sorted and services were back to normal.

Travellers are advised to check with South Eastern Railways live running information for updates on status of train journeys.
