Cllr John Fahy Meets Less Privileged At New Wine Church Dinner by Benson Agoha

* Christmas Dinner of the New Wine Church for the less prividged.

New Wine Church held a Christmas Dinner for less privileged persons in Woolwich and environs.

The event, organised for people experiencing financial difficulties, held on Saturday 7th December, 2013 at the New Wine Church on John Wilson Street, Woolwich.

Attendees enjoyed a three course meal, comprising first course of soup, main course with options of roast turkey, lamb or steak on roast potato, peas and salad, and third course of dessert.

During the event, Cllr John Fahy, Woolwich Riverside Councillor and Cabinet Member for Health, Adults and Older People dropped in and seized the opportunity to listen to some of the attendee's problems. He made notes and promised to look into them.

As it turned out, some of the attendees were people who had been displaced by one circumstance or another. Cllr Fahy listened to their stories and enquired if they have been assigned a case worker to help solve their problems.

Before leaving, the Counsellor promised to attend the breakfast events normally held for them every saturday by the Church, with a view to carrying out necessary surgery on their problems.

The New Wine Church holds Christmas Hampers every December to help people who would, otherwise not be able to afford to buy Christmas food for their household.

This years Christmas Hamper event will see 1.500 hampers given away to families and will be held on the 23rd of December, 2013 at the church premises.

However, the 1.500 vouchers needed for redemption of the hampers have already been exhausted.
