* PM David Cameron speaking at the Federation of Small Business, unvelled plans to encourage and make it possible for small business to succeed.
Prime Minister David Cameron has announced a package of measures to help small and medium businesses.
On monday January 27th, 2014, David Cameron released a video message in which he praised Britain's small businesses, acknowledging their contribution to the British economy and employment and urging them to keep doing what they are doing to keep the economy growing.
In the video message, the Prime Minister said:
"You are the live-blood of our economy. Over 90% of firms in this country are small firms and over 60% of people working in the private sector work for businesses like yours, so keep doing what you are doing - creating the jobs, the wealth and success our country needs."
He said "the government is on your side", adding "we want to get out of your way by deregulating, by cutting your taxes by making it easier for you to take people on, but we also want to stand up for small businesses."
PM said the government wants to help small businesses with rates, procurement and help make sure "that you can to export and succeed," he said.
He ended the video message by saying.."And above above all, what we are going to do together is to stand up for the enterprise, entrepreneurship and for the dynamism you represent as the future of our country."
The government's stand is a boost to the latest economic reports which revealed the economy grew at an astonishing 1.9% in 2013 - well beyond forecasts.
Public commentators urged caution although they agree there is noticeable evidence the economy is recovering, faster than some other European countries like Germany and France.
