In a statement posted on the Council website yesterday, the Royal Borough said residents are advised that the King's Troop will be conducting a training exercise on the morning of 13 March.
The statement said the King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery, based at the Woolwich Barracks, "will fire approximately ten rounds of blank ammunition on their training area on Woolwich Common on Thursday 13 March between 10am and 12 noon."
"The Army will be placing markers and sentries to ensure that members of the public who are using the common do not venture into the immediate area of the guns," the statement said.
The statement said the sounds of ammunition fire is to be regarded as part of the army's training for future events.
