China's Lunar Probe: 'Yutu' Jade Rabbit Wakes Up On The Moon

by Benson Agoha

China's latest mission to the moon which suffered a set-back when the exploration robot, 'Yutu' Jade Rabbit, broke down two months ago appears ready to get back on track.

Reports from China's Xihnua News say the luna robot has woken up on the Lunar surface, but with its mechanical problems still unresolved.

Woolwich Online reported on January 25, after the Moon Rover broke down, just one month after its soft landing on the moon, as a result of mechanical fault.

The rover, which was equipped with latest earth penetrating sensors, encountered problems that Chinese scientists blamed on the rough lunar terrain.

Earth bound Chinese engineers were reportedly planning to organise a repair session for the rover, although how remained unexplained.

The latest development which has seen Yutu waking might go a long to help its repairs and early return to work.
