Flight MH370: Missing Plane Found? We Will Share Confirmed Information Only, Say Airline

by Benson Agoha

Speculation that Malaysian Flight MH370 which went missing shortly after take-off last week Friday may have been found is growing by the minute.

Unconfirmed reports say it has been found in the Indian Ocean and as the speculation grew, Malaysian Airlines bosses have had to release an official statement on their position with regards to the flurry of reports.

In a statement made available to the media on the MH370 Flight Incident, the Airlines say, though they are aware of the speculations, they remain committed to sharing confirmed information with family members and the wider public, in a fully open and transparent manner.

The airline said "..given the nature of the situation, the importance of validating new information before it is released into the public domain is paramount."

But while the world digests the statement, a news report has surfaced online saying British satellite has received signals from the missing Malaysian plane.

The Indo Asian News Service said British satellite telecommunications company Inmarsat had it that its network has received signals from the Malaysia Airlines flight MH370, which went missing March 8.

According to IANS, Inmarsat confirmed it in a statement saying "Routine, automated signals were registered on the Inmarsat network from Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 during its flight from Kuala Lumpur," adding "This information was provided to our partner SITA, which in turn has shared it with the Malaysia Airlines."

But in the past few minutes, another report by the Malaysian Insider said the Thai navy has called off its search operation for the missing flight MH370, after Malaysian Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak, announced the search would expand to areas beyond Thailand.

According to the Malaysian Insider "The Bangkok Post reported that Royal Thai Navy Admiral Narong Pipattanasai had ordered for a cease of the search today after the announcement, which said that the search would no longer focus on the South China Sea."

In the meantime, the Malaysian Airlines statements said "Our thoughts and prayers remain with the families of the 227 passengers and our 12 Malaysia Airlines colleagues and friends on board flight MH370. They will remain at the centre of every action we take as a company, as they have been since MH370 first disappeared."
