Her Majesty, The Queen will officially commission Terminal 2 of the Heathrow Airport according to information made available on Twitter.
An official tweet from Heathrow Airport said the new Terminal will be officially opened on Monday June 23, 2014 by her Majesty.
Revealing the date, Heathrow Airport tweeted "Buckingham Palace has announced that Her Majesty The Queen will officially open the new T2 on June 23."
The official opening is coming after Airport bosses conducted several trial runs of the new check-in facility, using several thousand volunteers.
The series of 'proving trials' at Terminal 2 to check that everything works exactly as expected involved airlines, baggage handlers, Border Force, Heathrow Airport own staff and thousands of volunteers who act as passengers.
The rials have been running since September 2013 and is expected to end in April 2014.
Heathrow Airport said "Nothing is left to chance", Heathrow Airport says, adding "We check everything from small-scale tests of trolley operations and bus routes to large-scale simulations of entire terminal operations".
Successful trials give everone the confidence that Terminal 2 will provide a great experience from day one.
