Birmingham topped the list with 4,180 our of which 3,694 were identified. As at end of March 2014 also, 1,154 of the families have been turned around, after 1090 families received crime and anti social behaviour education and 64 families achieved continuous employment.
The PM said "getting some of our country’s most troubled families’ lives back on track is a key part of our long-term plan," adding "..it saves the taxpayer money, gives people the chance to get on in life and secures a better future for these families, their communities and for our country."
Prime Minister David Cameron is delighted with the progress report which revealed that Government's Troubled Families programme, has turned around the lives of nearly forty thousand of hard-to-help families.
According latest figures released by the Department for Communities and Local Government, a total number of 118,082 were surveyed and 111,574 families identified.
Of the total number identified, government has worked with 97,202 families as at end of March 2014. And of the total number of families identified, 36,347 families have received crime and anti social behaviour education while 3,133 families achieved continuous employment.
The figures which represent the number of families achieving the progress to work outcome, as defined within the Troubled Families programme Financial Framework (March 2012) showed that of the 118,082 families that were surveyed, 39,480 have been turned around as at the end of March 2014.
In the Royal Borough of Greenwich, 790 families were identified, out of which government worked with 659 as at end of March, 2014. The figures show that of the identified number, 378 families have been turned around, with 348 receiving crime and anti social behaviour education and 30 families achieving continuous employment.

Lancashire came second on the list with 2,437 identified families, out of which the government worked with 1,846. A total number of 864 families were turned around at the end of March made up of 862 received crime and anti social behaviour education and 2 families achieved continuous employment.
Isles of Scilly had the least number of troubled families with only 2 identified and turned around as at the end of March. The families received crime and anti social behaviour education.

Prime Minister, David Cameron welcomed the progress report which was released on Thursday, May 1, 2014 and said that with each troubled family estimated to cost an average of £75,000 a year, the 40,000 families turned around could have been costing the taxpayer in the region of £3 billion per year without intervention.
