The Air and road ambulances were called in and Police sealed off entrance to the Car Park of the McDonald’s restaurant in Plumstead, following the accident.

An eye-witness told Woolwich Online they were not sure, but that it appeared the six year-old and his mother were walking together in the Car Park when a Peugeot mini, driven by a young man, ran over the boy.

It was not clear how or why the boy separated from his mother or whether he fell down before it happened.
As medics worked on the injured boy inside the ambulance, and the police interviewed and took details of some young men, the boy’s mother cried and rolled on the floor.

Buses arriving back to base were held back as the nearby garage, playing host to the air-ambulance helicopter, was also cordoned off.

An ambulance, carrying the boy and his mother, left the scene at 7.10pm.

A police officer told us they were not sure if, or when, the boy will make a recovery.  “The accident was bad”, he told us.
