More EBOLA cases have been reported in Nigeria
and Senegal, according to the World Health Organisation.
A total of 21 cases have been reported in
Nigeria, made up of 19 confirmed cases, 1 suspected case and 1 probable case,
WHO said. In Senegal, 1 case has been
confirmed while 2 cases are being suspected.
Of the confirmed reported cases in Nigeria, 7
were within the past three weeks, bringing to a total of 8, the number of cases
reported. All three cases reported in Senegal were within the past three weeks
also.
8 deaths linked to the deadly virus have been
reported, made up of 7 confirmed and 1 probable. In the past 21 days, 4 deaths
linked to Ebola were recorded.
In a table recently released by WHO, a 24 cases
have been reported, 11 of which were recorded within the past 21 days.
Emergency measures to contain the spread of
the virus in Africa’s most populous country was introduced after the first case
was reported, with President Jonathan Goodluck releasing N1.9 bn for it’s containment.
`Ebola screening’, such as body temperature checks are ongoing
at airports in Nigeria.
