Reports from Wistv confirm the Columbia area man accused of shooting and killing nine people in a downtown Charleston church on Wednesday night has been arrested in North Carolina.
Law enforcement took 21-year-old Dylann Storm Roof of Eastover into custody in Shelby, NC Thursday morning. Shelby is approximately 30 miles west of Charlotte.

Following the shooting an active manhunt was taking place simultaneously in several locations in the Midlands and across the state.
Public records show Roof was most recently arrested in March in Lexington County on drug charges. According to a spokesman for the Lexington County Sheriff's Department, he was booked in the detention center on February 28 and again on April 26 after being arrested by the Columbia Police Department.
The description issued included the following:
"Dylan Storm Roof is a white male, with a bowl cut haircut, slender/small build, grey sweat shirt, blue jeans and clean shaven. He is considered armed and dangerous."
With two recent arrests in 2015 alone, it looks like the latest will put him away for longer.
