Cat Enters Race To Be US Democratic President, Yes Really

A cat named Limberbutt McCubbins has entered the US Presidential Race, seeking nomination on the platform of the Democratic Party in 2016, HuffPost Weird news reports today.

And the cat, apparently already active in social media with a Facebook Page "Limberbutt 2016" like by nearly 2000 fans:

Robert Maguire @RobertMaguire_ who tweeted the following: "Yesterday the race for Dem presidential nominee was shaken up by Limberbutt McCubbins #Limberbutt2016 #Limbermentum".

The cat, according to the report, belongs to an 18-year-old known as Emilee McDubbins, whose high school friend thought it would be a good idea to enter the feline in the race.

"Anyone can easily run for president, which is why if you go to the FEC website you'll see over 200 people listed - including Limberbutt," jokester Isaac Weiss said.

You can even buy memorabilia to support the cat's campaign, including a reasonably priced "Limberbutt 2016" mug.

McCubbins joins Lincoln Chafee, Martin O'Malley, Bernie Sanders and Jim Webb in the list of human candidates who probably won't beat Hillary Clinton in the party's primaries.

"And yes, it's completely legal for a cat to run for President, apparently. He's filed all the necessary paperwork (below)."
