Update on Tube Strike: London counts the cost as Tube Strike takes its toll

The crippling Tube Strike is taking it's toll as some 3.5m Londoners are thought to have been affected one way or another. And the City is said to be loosing some £300m due to the strike.

Commuters who chose to take their chance have told of their misery for making the mistake to venture out. Victoria Station reportedly experienced its longest queues ever.

But it was a day, many people took their chance and headed out anyway.  Some travelled on scooters, others on bikes and London's Bicycle hire scheme was stretched.  The Santander branded bikes (below) were hired from as back as yesterday. This is what Soho looked like this afternoon.

A lady, Liene Pulture, who said she tried to get to Oxford Circus without option than working said the strike was badly organised, according to Aisha S Gani @aishagani.

Stuart Hayes tweeted the following "London tube stike! Uber cab site crashes, buses + underground are full, Its a nice day, why don't more people cycle?"

Uber, the cab hire app, found it a perfect opportunity to make up for losses and all kinds of knocks and reportedly hiked price by as much as 3 times the usual price. Still they were over-booked.
