Summer activities for young people: Royal Greenwich free summer courses

Young people across the borough have the opportunity to get involved with a huge range of fun activities over the holidays - from dance and drama to film-making, sports and crafts.

The Royal Greenwich Youth Service is running a fun range of activities across the borough during the summer period including badminton, cooking, swimming, tennis and football coaching.

This summer Futureversity is running a range of completely free courses and activities for young people to help them get ahead in life.

There are over 20 courses on offer, from T-shirt printing to film-making and they are all run by industry professionals.

Courses are for 10-19 year-olds (or those up to 25 with disabilities).

The Royal Greenwich Heritage Trust has lined up a fun selection of activities taking place in July and August. Crafts and activities will take place at Charlton House on Tuesdays and at the Heritage Centre on Thursdays.

Activities run from 10am-12pm & 2pm-4pm and are suitable for those aged 4 plus - but younger children are welcome to join in with the help of their families.

There are five weeks of free arts courses over the holidays courtesy of the Greenwich and Lewisham Young People’s Theatre (GLYPT). Based at the Tramshed in Woolwich, GLYPT have a fantastic range of creative programmes between August 3 and September 4, including drama, dance, radio, DJing, street art and film-making. There is something for everyone aged five to 25.

This year’s programme features Hip Hop, Urban Contemporary, African and more dance styles. These energetic sessions will be highly physical and creative.
