Lucky Escape For Weekend Diners At A City Restaurant

* A Chilango special.
by Benson Agoha | In The City

Diners at a City Restaurant had a lucky escape at the weekend after a glass door cracked on its own and dropped on the floor like a melting mercury before scattering splinters inside the restaurant.

A group of three Diners closest to the front door of Chilango Mexican Restaurant, near Monument Station were speechless, after glass splinters dropped on their table while they were enjoying after-meal-chats inside the restaurant.

The incident happened at about 10pm, Saturday Night. No one was attempting to enter or leave the restaurant at the time and staff were busy inside, but were away from the front door when the right glass door suddenly plummeted.

It prompted immediate closure for the evening as staff began a quick clean up. Other diners quickly sorted their bills before they moved over to nearby McDonald's restaurant.

By Sunday, the broken side of the double swing-door entrance had been boarded up. It is not clear if the restaurant will open as usual on Monday.

We enquired from the diners who were inside at the time and they confirmed that no one was hurt.

A staff of Chilango Restaurant simply smiled at us and said everything was fine inside, as they began the clean up.

Chilango has about 9 restaurants in the capital and said they aim to expand and bring their trademark "Speedy design-your-own Mexican snacks" to more residents.
