Why Apple May Be Heading To India As Company Gets `Make-In-India' Invite

Apple maybe heading to India, if CEO Tim Cooke, practically demonstrates his view that India fits into his long term plans.

It comes as the Indian PM continues his visit across the Southwest of the Unites States, where he is meeting several CEO's.

According to a Times of India report Sunday, during his visit to Apple Californian HQs, Prime Minister Narrendra Modi invited Tim Cook to come and open a manufacturing base in India.

Vikas Swarup, India's Ministry of External Affairs spokesman said: "The Prime Minister (in his meeting with Cook) said he would like Apple to start manufacturing in India. He mentioned the huge opportunities India offered." He said CEO Tim Cook responded positively.
Swarup reportedly told the media: "Cook responded positively. I think India does fits into his long term plans. He particularly was interested in the whole App development economy, which he said could be a very very important factor for entrepreneurship where individual app developers can just become part of the app universe."

On his part, Apple CEO, Tim Cook reportedly told the PM that by using the app development tools, people can really become part of this huge industry, and gave the example of China where in fact over 1.5 million presence in India including a manufacturing presence and said there could be enhanced opportunity for app development related to the apple platforms.
