China abandons one-child policy, allows two kids for all couples

And one of the most re-known unique features for which China has long since been identified is their "one couple, one child policy" - but the policy has now been abandoned, the China Central Television reported.

The announcement comes as German Chancellors Angela Merkel is visiting the Asian power house and one week after China's President Xi Jinping, visited the UK - signalling the beginning of a new golden era.

According to Haaretz News China's ruling Communist Party announced Thursday that it will abolish the country's decades-old one-child policy and allow all couples to have two children.

It removes remaining restrictions that limited many urban couples to only one, the official Xinhua News Agency said.

In a post on its website, today Xinhua News sad: "China will allow all couples to have two children, abandoning its decades-long one-child policy, according to a communique issued Thursday by the Communist Party of China (CPC)".

Other revelations include the decision to double the country's 2010 GDP by 2020, tweeting

"China aims to double 2010 GDP, per-capita income of urban, rural residents by 2020: CPC meeting".

German Chancellor Angela Merkel is currently on an official visit to China where both countries have agreed to cooperate even further including in upgrading industries.
