Twitter Restructures To Refocus And Reinvest In Growth - Sacks 336

Twitter announced Tuesday, it was taking steps to restructure, refocus and pursue paths that facilitates its growth.

The popular social media, which boasts of over 300 million users, favoured by marketers for generating leads and publicity said it was to make some tough measures to achieve its new plan.

In a tweet, CEO Jack Dorsey said he had to make some tough but necessary decisions to enable Twitter move `with greater focus and reinvest in our growth.'

His tweet on Tuesday followed his memo to staff, informing them he had decided to relieve 336 employees worldwide.

In a memo Dorsey told them, "..we are moving forward with a restructuring of our workforce so we can put our company on a stronger path to grow."

Going straight to the point, the CEO said the team has been working around the clock to produce a streamlined road-map for Twitter, Vine, and Periscope and they are shaping up to be strong.

He said `The roadmap' represented a `plan to change how we work and what we need to do that work.'

is focused on the experiences which will have the greatest impact. We launched the first of these experiences last week with Moments, a great beginning, and a bold peek into the future of how people will see what's going on in the world.

He emphasized that key to the era would be product and engineering will make the most significant changes and that a simpler nimbler team would be required.

For this reason, he told them "we.. have made an extremely tough decision: we plan to part ways with up to 336 people from across the company. We are doing this with the utmost respect for each and every person. Twitter will go to great lengths to take care of each individual by providing generous exit packages and help finding a new job."

He said it wasn't easy making the decision but that he felt it is the right one because "the world needs a strong Twittter."

The announcement was not altogether a surprise. For some time, Twitter has been looking for a new CEO to take over from Jack Dorsey, one of the founding members of Twitter. That did not work out and so he had to be confirmed for the full-time CEO job.
