Royal Greenwich Invites Residents To An Information Event That Offers Them Chance To Find Out More About Adoption

by our RBG Correspondent | Woolwich

Prospective adopters have a chance to find out about the support available from the Royal Borough of Greenwich at an information session later this month.

A free evening event on Thursday 26 November is being planned to help people who want to adopt a child to find out more.

It is being organised by the Royal Borough’s adoption team, and takes place from 7pm to 9pm in the Gallery of the Woolwich Centre, Wellington Street, SE18 6HQ.

Information about adoption will be provided, and people can ask questions.

There is a particular need at the moment for adoptive parents for children aged three and upwards and also for sibling groups of two or more of brother and sisters.

The Council is always looking for new adopters, and encourages prospective adopters from all walks of life; adopters need patience, and an understanding that adopted children have special care needs.

There’s a further session jointly organised with Lewisham Council that takes place on Tuesday 1 December, 6.30pm to 8.30pm, in Lewisham Town Hall, Catford SE6.

To register for either event, go to: www.royalgreenwich.gov.uk/adoption.

Families who want to find out more about adopting can also contact the Royal Borough’s adoption service on 020 8921 2752 or visit www.royalgreenwich.gov.uk/adoption.
