When the US say we are making headway in Clean Energy technology, the photo below points to what they mean. But despite the efforts, analysts say so far, there is no silver bullet to solving the world's energy problem.

This week, world leaders are meeting in Paris to find a way to reach agreement on steps to be taken to reduce carbon emissions which are being blamed for the degradation of the environment and worsening air pollution.

As speech after speech from world leaders highlight the graveness of climate change from rising sea levels, to global warming, greenhouse emissions and air pollution, UN Secretary General told them in a speech that reaching agreement on this conference is in the best interest of all nations.

But even with President Obama's determination, analysts say the US Congress is not yet sold on the idea yet and that the issue is still a hard-sale for President Obama, for the reason that the available technologies have neither proven to be cost effective, nor developed to an extent where it can reliably be deployed country wide.

The Chinese President used his speech to tell his fellow world leaders that their presence in Paris, just two weeks after the attacks, shows that terrorists cannot deter them from pursuing their goals.

He too is emphasizing on the need to co-create a win-win outcomes that will see those who have the technologies, transfer it to developing countries so that they are not left out on these outcomes expected to target 2020.
Perhaps timely, the worlds 20 most involved billionaires who are committed to investing in the clean energy fund, helping to find new ways to generate clean energy are showcasing their efforts.

These men, including Microsoft Founder Bill Gates (watch youtube video below), Facebook Boos Mark Zuckerberg and Amazon Chief Jezz Bezos are investing in the Breakthrough Energy Coalition fund which sees them pool their cash, to fund technology that will increase the world's clean energy output  without contributing to global warming.

Other investors include Virgin Group founder Richard Branson, LinkedIn boss Reid Hoffman, and Alibaba executive chairman Jack Ma, according to Sky News.

Writing on his Blog, Bill Gates who is attending the talks, said he was in Paris for a big announcement on energy and climate change and `it is deeply moving' to be in the city just two weeks after the horrific terror attacks that killed 129 people.

But he said he was inspired by the way the French people have persevered in such a difficult time.

The Microsoft Founder said: "The renewable technologies we have today, like wind and solar, have made a lot of progress and could be one path to a zero-carbon energy future."

But, he said, given the scale of the challenge, the world needs to be exploring many different paths including inventing new approaches.

Bill Gates said: "Private companies will ultimately develop these energy breakthroughs, but their work will rely on the kind of basic research that only governments can fund. Both have a role to play."

In a report on Sky News, Facebook Founder, Mr Zuckerberg was quoted as saying: "Solving the clean energy problem is an essential part of building a better world". And warning that "We won't be able to make meaningful progress on other challenges - like educating or connecting the world - without secure energy and a stable climate."

"Yet progress towards a sustainable energy system is too slow, and the current system doesn't encourage the kind of innovation that will get us there faster."
