Not everyone likes a successful footballer - not even if he is Lionel Messi
When Barcelona star Messi and his team mate, former Liverpool star, Louis Suarez were among other players who celebrated winning the Club World Cup title in Japan. Messi was said to have scored in the 3-0 win.
but while heading through the Narita International Airport, Tokyo he was reportedly targeted by a fan who spat at him.
Reports say Messi is not very well loved by home fans because they accuse him of being more loyal to Barcelona than his nation Argentina.
But when he moved for a face-off with the fan, his team mates were said to have stepped in to stop him.
Mascherano, Luis Suarez and Coach Luis Enrique were on hand as can be seen from the images after they were cut from the video.
Truly, a prophet is not without honour, except in his own country.
