Leytonstone Stabbing Incident: RMT Calls For London Transport Safety Summit

The RMT Workers Union has reacted to the stabbing incident involvement a lone male, waving a knife and slashing on passengers.

He was also reportedly quoted as shouting "This Is For Syria".  One man was seriously injured after he stabbed on his neck before another man interrupted him and Police arrived to Taser him.
 
Police and passengers were said to have witnessed the `blood everywhere.'  The suspected, said to have a history of mental illness has been arraigned at the Westminster Magistrates Court on Monday.

But in a statement on released Sunday, RMT General Secretary, Mick Cash said the Workers Union was eagerly awaiting the full facts concerning the incident, while calling for a London Transport Safety summit.

Mick Cash said: "RMT awaits the the full facts on this shocking incident and in the meantime the union repeats it's call for a London transport safety summit in light of the job cuts programme, the current security status and the intolerable pressure on staff and services."

" That summit should involve the unions, TFL, the BTP, the train companies and Network Rail. There can be no excuse for any further delays in bringing all parties together to address the security, staffing and safety issues currently confronting our transport services."
