The Mayor joined in the Christmas celebrations by dining with the Irish pensioners at the Clarendon in Blackheath for a festive meal on Tuesday 15 December organised by the Irish community services.

The Irish community services working in Greenwich, Bexley and Lewisham is a registered charity which started in 1984. For the last 30 years they have been helping generations of Irish people and their families who immigrated to Britain.

This is the Irish community’s main Christmas event for all Greenwich Irish pensioners in and around the borough to get together and enjoy a Christmas dinner with the Mayor of Greenwich.

Following later on after the Christmas meal, guitarist Gerry Kelly performed Irish Oldies, Rock ‘n’ Roll and Country to entertain the Irish pensioners for the rest of the afternoon. A raffle then capped off the end of a great day where there was alcohol and chocolates to be won!

In the run up to Christmas, the Mayor attended a Christmas fair on Saturday 5th December which was organised by the Charlton Group and is for the Charlton Park Riding for the Disabled Association in Charlton Park Road, SE7.
