Revisiting Istanbul's Pet Food Vending Machines - How Far Have They Come?

by Nancy Weirh | News On the web

We couldn't overlook this story somewhere on the web. Ok..nothing goes for nothing and even though the food is designed to feed stray animals, someone still has to pay for it - indirectly at least.

The pet food vending machine above was invented by a company called Pudgeon to dispense food for stray animals and save them from starvation.

But since nobody owns the animals, feeding depends on the generosity of the public who have to drop recyclable plastic bottles into the machine for it to dispense food rather than sell it, its like donating the proceeds to an animal charity.

It is a novel way for the Istanbul based company to help save the 150,000 strays reportedly roaming the streets without anyone claiming ownership.

So for you animal lovers, when in Instanbul, make sure you recycle your plastic bottles in one of those machines.

But the program having run for over a year now, we wonder how they animals has faired since.

If you have been to Istanbul in recent months, write in and tell us what you noticed about the Pet Food Vending Machines.
