Twitter Steps Up Fan Engagement With Celebrity Apps For Select Influencers

by Benson Agoha | In Woolwich

Twitter is recognising the difference that celebrities make to micro-blogging platforms existence, reveals Lucas Matney of Tech Chrunch, after a peep into Twitters latest app offerings.

Take for example a selfie by Kendall Jenner, it attracts thousands of retweets and favourites as her fans tend to engage more with the tweets than with tweets from non celebrities.

So a few hundred select celebrities and influencers now have their own applications from Twitter, allowing them an exclusive way to connect with fans and build their brands, a report on the Mobile Marketing Association states.

In a chat with Jinen Kamdar, global director of product for Twitter Media, Matney enquired about Twitters latest app offerings and what they're intended to accomplish.

But not to worry because though the apps are currently only available to a few hundred celebrities and their teams, Twitter plans to continue expanding the availability of the apps.

For example there is the improve AMA which gives powerful people a more seamless means of connecting with those that are following them, but with the visual nature of nested replies you have to pretty aggressively stalk a user’s timeline in order to see their fan interactions.

With its new Twitter Q&A app, Twitter is making it easier for the likes of the Kardashians and Biebers of the world to interact with fans, while also giving the average user a way more attractive means of seeing celebrity/user interactions.

Look at this cool example born out of the Star Wars: Force Awakens campaign to see how engaging the new content in Moments can be.
