A man has been seen wandering around with an electronic device thought to be capable of scamming shoppers as they cluster around the checkout.
Daniel Fairfield (left), a Credit Development Manager at a Credit Consultancy outfit, alerted the public on LinkedIn after he spotted a man wandering around with a Point of Sale (POS) device.
He said all the crook had to do was to key in a price less than £30 and then touch the device on the pocket that contains your wallet. "Ching! You've just been charged automatically on your touch pay enabled credit/debit card...."
It takes experience to catch a crook and Mr Fairfield, who said he had already tried to show people that it was possible to fleece them of their money with the NFC function, had no difficulty catching up with the trick.

He said: "I've actually shown people this using the NFC function on my mobile to read their card data through their wallet to freak them out" adding "but this is the first time I've seen someone doing it for real."
So what is the solution? The technologically Savvy Manager who was for Experian Credit Consultants wondered if it was "..time to invest in a screened wallet."
