Ghana: 61 Killed In Crash As Another Butchers Six Family Members [Graphic Images]

61 people were killed when a Bus collided with a tomato truck a Tomato truck in Central Ghana on Thursday.

 

The incident, described as the deadliest road accident in recent memory occurred on Wednesday in the town of  Kintampo, some 400 km (250 miles) north of Accra.

 

 Christopher Tawiah, regional police spokesman told ABC News that survivors were being treated at the government hospital in the town.

 

Ghana President John Dramani Mahama expressed condolences to affected families as he said emergency crews were responding.

 

The scene was that of devastation and bodies were strewn on the road, said an eye-witness.

 

Fred Dwomoh, whose son survived said "This accident has shattered families," as another affected family man whose wife was on board said he dreaded to go to the hospital fearing for the worst.

 

"I have asked my brother to check to see what has happened to her." Peter Frimpong said.

 

The crash was one of two tragic incidents reported from Ghana Thursday.

 

In another case, a man was reported to have butchered his mom, dad, and 3 children at Assin Akrofuom area of Ghana.

 

He is said to be mentally unstable and was reported to have killed a total of six family members by targeting their necks with heavy blows.
