Even as the British government voted £20 million to encourage trials of self-driving vehicles on British roads, Google is extending it's trials to the river-side.
It recently announced to choice of Kirkland, Washington as its next location. And the photo above says a lot.
Kirland is a city with unique features including the downtown waterfront. It is the only Eastside downtown frontage along Lake Washington's shoreline and residents would no doubt be looking forward to witnessing the auto-cars as the drive-by, avoiding the shoreline.
Google's self-driving cars have already driven 1.4 million miles but a roll out date has not been set.
In a statement Google said "After self-driving 1.4 million miles, we’re ready to give our cars more experience driving new environments, traffic patterns, and road conditions," adding "..and we definitely don't mind the waterfront views either!".
Google is hitting North Kirkland with their Lexus RX450h SUVs and are looking forward to flurry of feed-backs.
If you live in Kirkland, don't hold back.
