Council Tax Property Valuations, Royal Greenwich Alert Residents To Council Tax Fraudsters

by our RBG Correspondent | Woolwich

Residents in the Royal Borough of Greenwich are being warned about calls from companies claiming to be able to reduce council tax bills by helping get homes re-band to a lower band with a cheaper council tax rating.

Through our joint anti-fraud work with Bromley Council, it has been identified that some companies are cold-calling residents to offer valuations, council tax banding and area comparisons of their property with the aim of saving them thousands of pounds in council tax.

However they will charge a “small" administration fee of anything upwards of £55.

If you are contacted by one of these companies please remember that the government’s Valuation Office Agency offers a valuation service – for free.

To get in touch about the Valuation Office Agency you can call 03000 501501 between 8.30am to 5.00pm or visit the
government’s website for more information about valuations and checking your banding.
