Royal Greenwich Invites Residents To Beacons Lighting Event For Her Magesty's The Queen’s 90th Birthday

by Benson Agoha | Woolwich

Come and join the Royal Borough of Greenwich celebrations for the Queen’s 90th birthday on Thursday, 21April.

There will be three beacon lighting events across the borough in Woolwich (General Gordon Square), Shooters Hill (Oxleas Meadow) and Greenwich (Cutty Sark Gardens).

The three Royal Borough beacons will join over a thousand other beacons being lit throughout the United Kingdom and beyond. The first beacon will be lit by the Queen at Windsor Castle.

The leader of the council, Denise Hyland, said: “As a Royal Borough we are proud to be helping Her Majesty celebrate this tremendous milestone and wish her a happy birthday.”

The Royal Borough events all begin at 7.30 pm and there will be Royal themed entertainment and music from the Air Cadets Band along with other local bands. The events will end with the lighting of the beacons at 8.30pm.

More information about the individual events can be found at:
