As Jacobs was about to flee on a high powered motorcycle, the officer overpowered him and recovered the stolen cash. A cash box containing £10,000 was recovered.

Police was able to link him to five other robberies committed across South London including on December 23, 2015 when he dress in dark clothing and ran towards the cash-in-transit custodian and pulled the box from his grasp.  Then made off with the cash box.

Also on Saturday, 2 January, Jacobs he ran towards the cash-in-transit custodian in Oakleigh Gardens, Bromley, and pulled the cash box from the custodian's grasp and ran off with the cash.

He committed a further offence on Thursday, 7 January, as he ran towards a cash-in-transit custodian in Tooting High Street, SW17; he grabbed the cash box from his grasp and made off with it.

On Tuesday, 19 January in Bell Green Retail Park Sydenham, SE26, Jacobs dressed in a crash helmet and motorcycle clothing ran towards a cash-in-transit custodian. He grabbed the cash box and made off with it on a motorcycle. This cash box was empty.
The last offence before Jacobs was apprehended was on Friday, 22 January, at Worple Road Raynes Park, SW20. Jacobs ran towards the cash-in-transit custodian and pushed him over. The cash box was taken and he made off with it on a motorcycle. Due to police activity in the area the cash box was discarded.

The off-duty officer who detained Jacobs has been recommended for a commendation.

Detective Chief Inspector Stephen Ellen of the Met's Flying Squad said: "I would like to commend the bravery of the off-duty police officer who detained Jacobs. Jacobs' sentence today reflects the nature of the offending, he is a prolific robber who I have no doubt would have continued committing crimes had he not been stopped.
