It's Voting Day As Mayoral Elections Gets Underway At Polling Stations Nationwide

Voting Stations were open from 7 am today to allow early risers and workers to voted if they will not have the chance later in the day. They will be open till 10pm to allow others getting off work late to exercise their civic rights.

The two frontline contenders, Sadiq Khan for the Labour Party and Zack Goldsmith for the Conservative party made their last pitch last night.

Turnout is relatively impressive with voters turning to vote in Greenwich. It has so far been smooth and easy and voting takes place without a rush. As usual, this is expected to change as the closing time nears.

Voters are looking to choose who will be the next Mayor of London, to succeed incumbent Boris Johnson who has chosen not to stand for a third time, when he leaves office.

Candidate Options are:

1) Sadiq Khan of Labour Party
2) Zac Goldsmith of Conservative Party
3) Sian Berry of the Green Party
4) Caroline Pidgeon of the Liberal Democrats
5) Peter Whittle of (UKIP)
6) David Furness of BNP
7) Geoge Galloway of Respect
8) Paul Golding of Britain First
9) Ankit Love of One Love
10) Sophie Walker of Women's Equality
11) Lee Harris of CISTA and
12)  Prince Zylinski who is running as an Independent Candidate.
 
In addition to the Mayoral elections, voters will also be choosing their representatives at the London Assembly. The options available to voters on the ballot box in this regard include:

* FLETCHER, Julia
 (London Liberal Democrats)

* OAKLEY, Paul James
 (UK Independence Party - UKIP)

 (The Conservative Party Candidate)

According to the Royal Borough of Greenwich, there is also an additional election in Glyndon ward for a local councillor on May 5.

Voters who are unsure about where to go to cast their vote, can now find out the location of their nearest polling station online.

and enter the name of the street.
