Toronto - An unemployed couple in Canada have hit social media after deciding to take the street networking approach to try and find employment.
Rakesh Kana, a duly qualified supply chain professional is also certified as supply chain management professional, but he and his wife, who comes from Vietnam, are unemployed for the past year.
He said they decided to use the `networking on the street' approach in the hope they would find the right employer.
The couple who met through Yahoo! Messenger, live in Toronto, Canada, after Marriage because "settling in India or Vietnam was difficult for either of us because of the numerous cultural barriers."
They moved to Canada because they could sense greater warmth, and greater possibilities for a peaceful married life in this multi-cultural nation.
They found after being in Canada for the last one year, that they were right about the warmth and the peace and joy. But life would be nothing without money and they still haven't found a job.
After doing odd jobs for the last one year, which has somewhat exhausted them in body and soul, they said "It’s only our love that keeps us going. And our hope in Canada."
Then an idea occurred to them and they designed a poster and hit the street.
In his words, Kana said: "After one year of an unsuccessful job hunt, me and my wife have decided to turn to the streets. We have hit the pavement to find a job by organizing a self-promotional marketing campaign called ‘NETWORKING ON THE STREET’."
"Our hope is that we will soon meet our dream employer. Please support us as much as you can after reading the attached post about our life and job search along with this update."
He shared his post on LinkedIn with a photo of them holding their handcrafted poster in the hope that readers like you.
Since posted on May 10, 2016, it has attracted 3,559 views, 224 likes and 47 comments and he says he currently has the following results:
