Millie Haselden from Wyborne Primary School and Daniel Chiltern from Charlton Academy achieved silver and Sophia Marian from Shooters Hill and George Ball from Shooters Hill Post 16 both claimed bronze.

Cllr Denise Scott-McDonald (top right), Cabinet Member for Culture, Creative Industries and Community Well-Being, said: “Congratulations to the para swimming team on their excellent result. Para swimming is a key development sport for the Royal Borough and having these young people achieving at this age shows that we are creating a strong foundation to continue building on in the future.”

The team are based at the Eltham Centre and train every Friday evening under Head Coach Gill Beager. Gill, team manager at the competition, expressed her delight at the results, saying: “It was very close. You can never tell what the other teams are going to bring, but it all came together for us on the day. I’m in awe of what they did, and I’m their coach!

Balfour Beatty London Youth Games is Europe’s biggest annual youth sports event with young people from every borough in the capital taking part in competitions across 30 different sports.
