Tesla Fall Behind On Delivery Targets, Due to ‘Extreme’ Production Ramp-Up

Even for a high end auto producer like Tesla, delivery targets are not assured.
 
According to a report by Industry Week, Tesla Motors Inc. delivered only 14,370 of the 17,000 units it targeted in the second quarter.
 
The missing of its forecast of 17,000 units was because of what it called an “extreme production ramp” which saw half of the quarter’s production in the final four weeks.

But there is a better news, Tesla, the maker of electric cars and energy storage devices now expects to deliver about 50,000 cars in the second half IW reported, quoting a company statement.

Even after increasing its production, the i-carmaker has had trouble getting its vehicles to customers fast enough to meet its targets.

Tesla is ramping up production at its Fremont, California, factory with an eye toward making 500,000 cars a year by 2018 but achieving that also depends on Tesla's battery factory east of Reno, Nevada, coming online with battery cell production.
