The Royal Borough of Greenwich has a number of apprenticeship opportunities available working across the council and in schools and is hosting two recruitment events on Tuesday 16 and Friday 19 August.
Apprenticeships give you the opportunity to work for a real employer and gain a real qualification whilst gaining valuable workplace skills and experience.
The event will be hosted by the Greenwich Local Labour and Business (GLLaB) - the Royal Borough of Greenwich’s local labour initiative to help local people access training and jobs. GLLaB provides information, advice and guidance, skills and job brokerage services.
If you would like to attend either event to find out more about apprenticeship opportunities you need to register for an appointment – to register contact Mitchell Hayzen on 020 8921 3153 and email your CV to mitchell.hayzen@royalgreenwich.gov.uk.
The Royal Borough of Greenwich positively welcomes applications from people with disabilities - if you have a disability and would like support or adjustments to the application process please mention this to Mitchell when you contact him.
Business Administration and Teaching Assistant apprenticeships in Primary Schools – Tuesday 16 August
We have some excellent apprenticeship roles coming up working in business administration with local primary school settings. There are three business admin roles and four Teaching Assistant apprenticeships available. One of the Teaching Assistant apprenticeships is based within the nursery of a local school.
Business admin duties will be varied and based in school office or reception; the Teaching Assistant apprentices will work under the guidance of teachers.
As part of your apprenticeship training you will have day release to study for an NVQ Level 2 in Business Administration or NVQ Level 2 in Supporting Teaching and Learning. You will work during term time only but will need to continue study during the school holidays and you will be employed directly by the schools on a 12 to 18 month contract.
Eligibility
Good academic performance is preferred ideally with C + in Maths and English GCSE, but there is some flexibility in this.
The process
You will undertake five day pre-apprenticeship training at the end of August to help you plan and prepare for your interviews and perfect your CV. This will be followed by work experience in schools to learn more about the roles and demonstrate your abilities.
The roles start in mid-September 2016.
The closing date for applications is 2pm on Monday 15 August 2016 so make sure you submit your CV by 2pm on 15 August, to receive an automatic invitation to the event on the 16th.
Caretaker Apprenticeships in Royal Borough of Greenwich – Friday 19 August
We have a number of apprenticeship opportunities to work in our estate caretaking teams - these are excellent entry-level apprenticeships, working in estate based caretaking teams across the Royal Borough of Greenwich. The roles offer a good foundation to a career, on-going learning and opportunities for future progression.
You will work as part of a team with a supervisor/team leader and colleagues.
These apprenticeships will be based with the Royal Borough of Greenwich council sites, under the employment and support of the London Apprenticeship Company.
Eligibility
You won't need prior experience - just the desire to work and learn. You will be interacting with members of the public and representing the Royal Borough of Greenwich, so a strong customer service attitude and commitment to providing a good service are important.
The closing date for applications is 2pm on Thursday 18 August 2016, so make sure you submit your CV by 2pm on 16 August, to receive an automatic invitation to the event on the 19th.
