Students Head Back To School To Prepare For Exams

Students in Basic 6, Junior Secondary School Three (JSS3) and Senior Secondary SchoolThree (SS3) headed back to school today to prepare for their Common Entrance, BESEC and SSCE exams orgarnised by the West African Examination Council, despite continuing rise in the number of cases of COVID-19 reported last night.

Many students stayed away from school however, as very few of them were seen in some of the schools we visited.  Attendance is expected to increase in the coming days as doubts over whether the exams will take place fade.

Last week, the Federal Ministry of Education said the National Examinations Council (NECO) will hold its own exams between September and October, 2020.

The return to school for exams comes as gradual lockdown exit sees Nigerians trying to forge a semblance of normal life since March when governments suddenly directed schools to shut-down.  Full school resumption time-table is still unclear and many parents have arranged private lessons for their children.
