End SARS Protests - 61 Officers Face Punitive Actions As Presidential Panel on SARS Reform Submits Recommendations

The current protests on the activities of SARS may soon result in drastic actions, according to a report published Saturday by the World Stage Group.

According to the report, 61 Officers of the Nigerian Police Force are set to face punitive actions if recommendations by the Presidential Panel On SARS Reform is implemented.

The report said the Panel on SARS Reform made their recommendations after receiving 113 complaints on alleged human rights violations from across the country.

According to the report 37 officers were recommended  for dismissal while 24 others will face prosecution, quotation a statement signed by the Police Service Commission’s (PSC) Head, Press and Public Relations, Ikechukwu Ani.

In Lagos, Governor Babajide Sawan-Olu tweeted an update saying "I have seen powerful images and videos of the #CandleForSARSVictims vigils held across the country."

He said the vigils called for "very sober reflections.", adding "Yesterday, the orderly room trial of the police officers involved in the Surulere incident began."
