The latest daily update from Nigeria's Disease Control Office revealed 838 new confirmed cases of the coronavirus. This takes the overall total of confirmed cases so far to 84,414.
The breakdown showed the Federal Capital Territory taking the top spot with 297 cases, followed by Lagos with 253 and Plateau coming third with 82 cases.
Anambra and Sokoto states share the bottom spot with 1 case each.
NCDC said it has discharged 71,034 patients so far while 1,254 have died.
The youth account for about 50% of cases recorded so far, according to NCDC.
The high number occurred despite many people spending more time at home for the seasonal holidays.
