PREMIER LEAGUE TABLE SAY IT WILL BE AN INTERESTING YEAR by Benson Agoha
Football lovers and Club supporters are still wracking their brains on what might actually be a predictable result pattern for the Premier League this season.
Below, we show the latest league table as posted by the Premier League.
* League Table at New Year!
A total of 10 matches were played on New Year's Day but the result of the table remained pretty much the same - predictable unpredictability.
Contenders at the top have not managed to maintain a prolonged stay there. The only exception being Arsenal.
But despite their performance so far this year, it is still very much doubtful if they will actually win the league.
Arsenal is not giving up just yet. In fact, they have return to what has relatively become their `seat' for some time this season.
Chelsea is not far behind, after suffering embarrassments and being booted out of the Capital One Cup, they have managed to close the gap to just within two points of table leaders Arsenal, and one point behind Manchester City.
They are ahead of upward climbing Liverpool whose hard-hitting Uruguay, Luis Suarez has not just fired into serious reckoning this season, but earned himself an upgraded contract.
Liverpool had even climbed to the top of the table when by week 17, they had scored 36 points while Chelsea was still on 34. After droping to position 5, they have gained on position up and are now on 4th.
And Manchester United, thought not dominating as always, is hardly a write-off. With 20 games played, current table show Manchester United on position 6 with 34 points, just 11 points away from leaders Arsenal.
If there is a shocking performance from a Club this season, it seems to be West Ham United, who with 20 games played are down on position 19 with just 15 points.
Even Fulham and Aston Villa have gained on positions. While Aston Villa moved two steps from 13 to 11, Fulham has moved from 18 to 16 18.
West Brom also gained one step. Moving from postion 15 to 14.
With optimism still high and 18 games remaining in the season, can you offer and defentd any predictions?
Will Chelsea win the League?
