SUNNY MONDAY END NOTTINGHILL CARNIVAL ON A HIGH by Benson Agoha

* We all truly love it at carnivals - all of us. Don't we?

A beautiful bank holiday Monday, resulted iin massive turnout for carnival and festival goers within and around the town centre. It was however not such a rest day for some bank staff, like the Barclays bank, who had to work on Monday.

Residents around woolwich enjoyed a beautiful day outdoors. At about 1.30pm groups of daring beautiful ladies, were already dressed and out at the town centre on their way to the carnival - and not too far away, were their male counterparts.

Excitement thicken and tempo built, resulting in temporary stampede at the two entrances of the DLR station in Woolwich. Worried staff called in the police who raced to the spot in three vehicles, and the rush seized.

Elsewhere at the town centre, kids cooled off as they splashed away at the water feature tarmac. But despite the beautiful weather, there were no canopies, no fun-fair rides and no happy-campers at the Square.

There were also no special activities planned for broadcast on the big screen, but BBC provided regular updates on carnival, sports and general news.

* Notting Hill Carnival gets more colourful every year.

It's reported that about a million revellers troopped out to the annual west-end event and few people were arrested than in 2012.

Back at the Woolwich Town Centre, Wilkinson Stores have formerly re-opened the main entrance from Woolwich New Road and shoppers do no have to go round through the car park.

The main entrance has been closed since the Autust 2011 riots when betting and pound shops were razed down.

But who actually raised their game around the town centre on special bank holiday monday? Well, we saw you, you and you, but we give it to the kids. They sure did have fun.
